How Can severe Depression Be Treated?

I ve always been kind of detached with my feelings and emotions and last year I got diagnosed with major depression but for a few weeks now I ve been pretty emotionless and not really caring about anything or myself for that matter. For example a few days ago I almost got hit by a car but I did not care, I wasn t scared or anything as I saw it coming towards me I just kept walking at the same pace and didn t try to move out of the way persay and even after I was just as fine as before so I m assuming it wasn t shock. What do you think it might be?

Hello,

Major or clinical depression is a serious but treatable illness. Depending on the severity of symptoms, your primary care doctor or a psychiatrist may recommend treatment with an antidepressant medication.

He or she may also suggest psychotherapy, or talk therapy, in which you address your emotional state.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Esmeralda Sera, Oncologist
